Why You NEED A Multimeter

Multimeters are a very useful tool that you use when working with anything electrical.  The properties of electricity are invisible and the multimeter allows you to accurately measure them.  Working with electricity without this tool is potentially dangerous and even fatal.  Get familiar with the multimeter to see if you need one. Covered in this video are the following topics:

WHAT IS A MULTIMETER?

WHAT IS A MULTIMETER USED FOR?

WHO USES A MULTIMETER?

WHAT IS THE HISTORY OF THE MULTIMETER?

HOW MUCH DO MULTIMETERS COST?

HOW DO I USE A MULTIMETER?

MULTIMETERS IN MY COLLECTION

Did simplifying the MicroPython program for this robot help its ability to self drive?

New test results for the autonomous robot indicating better robot localization. Getting the tiny robot to be autonomous while it moves around has been a massive challenge in this project.  Inexpensive sensors, questionable hardware, and over complication all have been contributing problems for this robot.  Even the controller, a Raspberry PI PICO programmed with MicroPython could be cause for concern.  This video highlights some advances in the performance of this robot.

Slide Rules in the 21st century, are they still used today?

Slide Rules ruled the world of engineering at one time, are they still used today?

In this video we will explore Slide Rules. While most people have no idea what they are, they served a very important role in history.  Here are some of the questions answered in this video:

  • What is a Slide Rule?
  • Who uses Slide Rules?
  • When were Slide Rules used or are they still used?
  • How does a Slide Rule work?
  • What is the history of Slide Rules?
  • What does a 'modern' slide rule look like?\
  • Do you need a Slide Rule?

DIY Awesome Workbench - What makes a workbench awesome?

Workbenches are awesome tools in that they are critical to most processes.  If you are considering purchasing a workbench, or making your own workbench this video is a good starting place.  This video explores the concept of workbenches and how they impact many types of tasks performed around the home or at work.

A workbench isn't often thought of as a tool, however, if you look at from a different perspective, you may realize it is a foundational tool supporting all other work with tools in your shop.

Move a robot a specific distance, why so difficult?

Getting a robot to move a very specific distance can be a challenge, especially with inexpensive sensors.  During the last year of this robot experiment, many attempts have been made to achieve 'perfect' positioning.  Multiple sensors sensing multiple aspects of the environment helped but never solved the problem.

In this video, I attack this robot positioning problem with a fresh new perspective.  Giving the robot a KISS appears to help get things back on track for the ZoomTown experiment.

A NEW APPROACH IN ZOOMTOWN IS SHOWING POSITIVE RESULTS!

For the past few weeks I have been working on the ZoomTown project.  After being away from it for a few months I was able to clear my head and see things from a different perspective.

While still early in testing new ideas, the results are promising.  I will be putting out a video as soon as I can to explain the changes.

Cheers!
