Move a robot a specific distance, why so difficult?

Getting a robot to move a very specific distance can be a challenge, especially with inexpensive sensors.  During the last year of this robot experiment, many attempts have been made to achieve 'perfect' positioning.  Multiple sensors sensing multiple aspects of the environment helped but never solved the problem.  


In this video, I attack this robot positioning problem with a fresh new perspective.  Giving the robot a KISS appears to help get things back on track for the ZoomTown experiment.
